Lying in the Vinalopo valley, between the magnificent forested mountains of the Sierra de Crevillente and the majesty of the Sierra d'Algaiat - which enclose and protect the valley to the north, are the villages of Hondon de las Nieves and Hondon de los Frailles.
The mountains form a wide valley that invite a walk or cycle ride along many signposted routes, whether in summer, when you will experience sunsets that paint the sky blood red during the long evenings, or in the sunny and mild winter months.
During early morning walks you may discover foxes and wild boar and patience is rewarded by the magnificent sight of golden eagles and falcons performing aerobatics as they hunt for breakfast. Whilst at sunset eagle owls and their smaller relatives can be heard singing in the hills. The Mediterranean flora of pine, holm oak, juniper, rosemary, thyme, fennel and lavender fill the air with their scent and partridges, hares, rabbits and lizards may escort your walk.
